All Progressives Congress, APC leaders from Abavo, in Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State have agitated for the positions of Deputy Chairman and Secretary respectively at the party’s local government leadership level.
The statement signed by leaders of the party from Abavo Zone: M.O. Igweh, Pa F.T. Ebimaro, Prince Innocent Obaseki, Vincent Enuebuke, Sunny Ekpoh, Felix Okpu, Lucky Abanjo, Ihienkaonye Shedrack, Albert Osagie, Isaac Ekweze and Happiness Igweh, reads, “We, the undersigned are the leaders and stakeholders of our great party, All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abavo Zone, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
“It will interest you to know that the Local Government Area is made up of only two kingdoms which is Agbor and Abavo. That it was out of the old marginalization that made Abavo got three out of the twelve Federal Wards which the State Government tried to correct during the creation of State Wards in 2007 by making Abavo seven wards out of the eighteen State Wards in Ika South Local Government Area.
“It will also interest you to know that since the birth of democracy and Party Politics in Nigeria, all Political Parties have been maintaining a mutual agreement as regards the zoning of party offices and elective positions that concern the Local Government which is now being tempered by our leaders. This necessitated an emergency meeting of leaders and stakeholders of the zone where the following resolutions were taken:
One, that, we shall remain loyal and committed to our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the leadership of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Chairmanship of Prophet Jones Erue.
Two, that, we shall remain loyal to our L.G.A. leaders, Hon. Engr. Doris Uboh, Hon. Hilary Ibude, Barr. Felix Morka, Prince Michael Odia Omeike, Hon. Kingsley Nonye Philip among others who are working towards the building of a formidable party that will be capable of winning any election.
Three, that based on our loyalty, it will be very important to draw the attention of the party leaders to the impending dangers that would befall the party in Ika South if the Abavo Wards will be marginalized to the level of zoning out any of the party offices that are due us, they are the Deputy Chairmanship and the General Secretary positions of the party. The aforementioned positions must be from any of the three Wards in Abavo Zone.
Four that the leadership of APC Abavo Zone are in support of the nomination and subsequent inauguration of Engr. Moses Ogo Egbede as the Chairman of APC, Ika South and have also nominated Mr. Felix Okpu (DSP Rtd.) as the Deputy Chairman, APC, Ika South.
“Mr. Chairman Sir, we therefore, pray thee to use your good office to ensure that Abavo people are not pushed out in the helms of affairs in APC Ika South.
Copied in the agitation letter were; Hon(Engr) Doris Uboh, Hon Hilary Ibude, Hon Kingsley Noye Philip, Prince Michael Odia Omeike, Moses Ogo Ebedei and Lucky Monye Ehiwuogun.
