The beat of drums echoed as men and women including, children sang and danced. The occasion was the celebration of Okpe Ukwa 2020 annual festival. The Chairman of Abavo Palace Chiefs, Chief Odijie Yusuf, the Odafinakaeze of Abavo Kingdom said that the essence of the chiefs meeting in Abavo kingdom was to discuss how to assist His Royal Majesty Uche Irenuma 11, the Obi of Abavo Kingdom on how to oversee the welfare of the kingdom and also to assist one another.
Chief Odigie thanked the Obi Irenuma for supporting the meeting which according to him will go a long way helping to pilot te affairs of Abavo Kingdom effectively.
He called on the people of Abavo to join hands with the traditional ruler to enable him move the kingdom forward.
In a related development, Chief Philip Aganya, the Ogidigan of Abavo Kingdom expressed appreciation Obi Irenuma for recognizing him among the chiefs in Abavo Kingdom, saying that he is out to serve the kingdom diligently without fear or favour.He appealed to his colleagues to be their brother’s keeper.
Those who were present during the meeting were Chief Odijie Yusuf (Chairman) the Odafika-Eze of Abavo Kingdom, Chief Philip Agaya – The Ogidigan of Abavo Chief Ikechukwu Best Dikenwonsi, the Esama of Abavo, Chief John Okoh – The Onye-Sewe-Efele Obi of Abavo, Chief Monday Morka, Onye-Kwu-Ihien Wemene of Abavo, Chief Odozi Ogisomwan, Ohe-efin of Abavo, Chief Ojoh Tony, Osorme Eze, Chief Chinedu Irenuma, Ihodor of Abavo, Prince Blessing Ihator, Snr. Palace C.S.O, Chief Simon Okagwu, the Duke of Alizomor, Prince Uche Soka, Palace P.R.O and Chief Odafinakaeze.
They appealed to well meaning Abavo sons and daughters both at home and in the diaspora to create job opportunity for the youths in the community as a step towards eradicating social ills in the society. He also enjoined them to come home and contribute their quota for the development of Abavo Kingdom.
Chief Odigie used the medium to pay glowing tributes to the Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for bringing development to Delta State and also restoring the pride of the state and the dignity of all Deltans. He prayed God to grant him wisdom, strength and resources to pilot the affairs of his kingdom.
