The leadership of Agbor Community Union headed by Mr. Larry Onyeche on Saturday, June 6, 2020 inaugurated 7 standing committees for effective operation of the union.
Speaking at the brief meeting held at the union ‘s hall for the inaugural ceremony, the Secretary to the union, Dr. Onyemechi Ugboh, named the various committees to include Cultural committee, Political Committee, Security Committee, Education Committee, Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee, Health/Environmental Committee and Works Project/Monitoring Committee, and in the same vein read out terms of reference for the constituted committees.
He listed names of the members for the various committees as follows; Political Committee headed by Mr. Peter Egun as Chairman, Barr. Ofume Ndidi as Secretary, while Prof. A. C. Egun, Mr. Steve Ikpade, Mr. Godwin Ezedom, Mr. Isaac Ulebor, Mr. Benedict Ebede, Dr. Ugboh O., Mr. Charles Ekpenisi and all VPG’s as members.
Also, Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee to be headed by Chief Bernard Nwaki as Chairman, Mr. Fred Alele as Secretary, Bar. Mrs. P. Morka, Dr. Mrs. Okobia A. O., Mr. Thompson Ojeifo and Dr. Mrs. Helen Aghedo as members.
For Education Committee, Dr. S. I. Agholor was appointed as Chairman, Mr. Arimokwu Isaac (Secretary), Dr. Clifford Umeri, Dr. Mrs. Ossai Juliet, Dr. Mrs. Ezinwa Okokoyo, Mr. Peter Iyetor, Mr. Henry Esele, and Mr. Henry Akpabor as members.
Health/Environmental Committee includes, Dr. Otene Cletus as Chairman, Mr. Ekih Francis as Secretary, Mr.Chima Anya, Mr. On I Agbobu, Mr. Memeh Friday, Barr. Ehiedu O., Barr. Ndidi Ofume and all VPG’s as members.
Cultural Committee has Sir. Ebite Boniface as Chairman, Mr. Joe Morgan, Onwuka Nkemdili, Alex Aworo, Godday (from Ewuru community), Bitokwu Philip, Ekwuye Sunday and Ngozi Okwada as members.
Works Project/Monitoring Committee has Mr. Echi Obueh as Chairman, Dr. Ugboh O. as Secretary, Engr. Ijeh Patrick, Mr. Aghulor Johnbull, Mr. Patrick Okwagi, Mr. Noel Omodon, Architect Melewe Okuoma, Mr. Charles Ekpenisi, Mr. Vincent Arimokwu and all VPG’S as members.
And lastly Security Committee which is made of Mr. Iyare David as Chairman, Mr. Billy Egede as Secretary, Supo Peter Young, Mr. Kiyem Monday, Mr. Chukwuma John, Nelson Onuenu, Jude Enyosa all VPG’S as Onyeche.
In his remark, the PG, Mr. Larry Onyeche, expressed joy to have the standing committees finally constituted.
He charged the committees to commence operations in line with their schedule of duties and within the context of the ACU constitution.
He enjoined the committee heads to report back to him their activities for onward directives of the committee chairman to brief the house from time to time.
The PG emphasized that any committee that fails to perform within the first two quarters ending in December, 2020, will be dissolved and be subsequently replaced with new set of persons. Hence his directive to all committee chairmen not to hesitate in reporting any inactive member to ACU secretariat for necessary actions.
Speaking further, the PG posited that all committees are at liberty to meet at least once in a month, adding that they are also free to use the community hall for their meetings.
“We wish to note that we are all in the community service together where we spend our time, energy and finance to collectively assist in the development of our kingdom in our little way. However, your short, middle and long term plan of your activities must be drawn and approved by the executive members,” he added.
He therefore, proceeded to inaugurate the committees on the assurance that the Chairmen will live up to expectations by serving their respective committees diligently.
Some of the committee chairmen who spoke separately after the inauguration, thanked the union for the confidence repose on them to serve the kingdom. They assured of their commitment to duty while appealing that notice to such development be served on time.
