The approval for the building of army brigade in Agbor by the Nigeria Army has led to the presentation of very appropriate place to build the base. During the week, Mr. Larry Onyeche, the President-General of Agbor Community Union formally presented a stretch of land between Alifekede, Omumu and Ihogbe to the Delta State Government through Mr. Chiedu Ebie, the Secretary to the Delta State Government in the presence of Hon Festus Chukwuyem Okoh, member of the Delta State House of Assembly.
The land which measures approximately a kilometre square is situated on a plain that is not encumbered in terms of ownership as the various communities appeared in high spirit to accept the project. According to Major Pa Onwubuoya (rtd), who represented Alifekede Community, the area is noted as black spot for criminal activities especially rape and kidnapping.
The presence of the army base, according to him, will lower crimes.
