…as youths protest EndSARS, Police brutality
Youths in Agbor, Head quarters of Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State went haywire on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 as they engaged in a protest while calling on Nigerian authorities to end an alleged reign of terror by officers of the Special Anti Robbery Squad and police brutality.
The event which went peaceful to some very high extent with over 2000 youths carrying placards to demostrate their grievances on police assaults, took an unexpected turn as some miscreants invaded the Police Motor Traffic Division in Agbor to wreck havock.
According to a reliable source who pleaded anonymity, the leaders of the protesters were having an interface with the Divisional Police Officer of Agbor Police Headquarters when some group of youths left unannounced to attack the police MTD.
He said, “the protest was being organized by some persons who are not resident in Agbor.
“They came from Asaba with some none Agbor youths and eventually lured some of the youths in Ika land to join the protest.
“Though the protest as being carried out in some part of Delta State and Nigeria at large went peacefully to some extent before some drugs addicted youths invaded the Police MTD to destroy it’s property”
“It took the intervention of some youth leaders in Agbor such as Comr. Marvin Enyosa (President/ Convener of Agbor Youths Circle), Comr. Monday Emenim Akpolo who is the Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Security Matters and Hon. Yankee,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Agbor DPO who was said to had earlier assured the protest of a new face of the police under his watch in Agbor and also encouraged them to report to him directly of any form of police assaults as his doors are always opened for them, directed his men not to repel the action of the youths.
He said, it was the right of the youths to engage in peaceful protest as a way of airing their displeasure over an issue, but expressed disappointment on the fact that youths of Agbor gave room for intruders of small percentage to take over the town to wake up matter that have already been resolved by the Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari.
He also observed that the mission of the intruders as persons trying to gain some form of popularity, thereby giving room for miscreants to hijack the process and wrecked havock.

However, he prayed God to assist the nation, asking that the white papers should see the light of the day.

At the end of the protest which lasted till after 5pm of the same day, no life was lost.
