Makes case for creation of industries in Agbor
Mr. Celestine Aziken has poured encomiums on the Dein of Agbor Kingdom, HRM Dr Benjamin Ikenchuku Keagborekuzi 1, describing him as a pride to Agbor people and Ika nation. This commendation which came at the heels of the birthday anniversary of the King slated for the 29th was made during a chat with our reporters over the week.
Aziken who is a firebrand activist, youth leader and President, Eworor Youths Association, noted that the Agbor monarch possessed a distinct carriage and personality which have fetched him fame and recognition both in national and international spheres. He wished the monarch many more years on the throne and prayed God to bless him and grant him the wisdom and wherewithal to lead Agbor Kingdom to more enviable heights of development and prosperity.
In another development, he pleaded with the monarch to use his widespread influence and goodwill to bring genuine investors to make investments in the community which will bring about rapid development of the kingdom. He noted that Agbor remains a fertile ground for major investments and stated that it would help accelerate economic activities and development if more businesses and companies are established in the area. In his words, “Agbor Kingdom is a good investment haven. It is peaceful and has a wide expanse of arable lands and a teeming population which are the required indices for attracting local and foreign investments. Our King should use his goodwill and connections, both local and international to press for more investments, as it would have a positive ripple effect of creating employment, curbing crime and youths restiveness in the community”.
Continuing, he urged the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele to create an investment conducive environment in Ika land as a way of facilitating the influx of investors and businesses in the area.
He also used the opportunity to draw the attention of the monarch and government to the alarming rate of kidnapping in the area, calling on all stakeholders on security to make concerted efforts in bringing an end to the scourge. In his words, “kidnapping has now become a daily occurrence and the lack of action by the security outfits has emboldened these daredevils who demand for huge ransoms from the families of their captives to secure their release. Our forests have been overtaken by armed bandits suspected of Fulani origin and their evil activities make it unsafe for people to go to their farms or travel safely along deserted roads for fear of being kidnaped. Just this past week, some staff of the College of Education, Agbor was abducted by these marauders and their families had to cough up over 9million Naira to secure their release. This trend must stop before the situation degenerates to that of fear and lawlessness.
I am calling on the military personnel based in Agbor and environs to swing into action and help nip the ugly trend in the bud instead of engaging in chasing after our girls and forgetting their primary objective of securing lives and property”.
