…as Ika South PDP Ward 6 Chapter holds enlarged meeting
The incumbent executive of Ika South Ward 6 Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been advised to maintain the internal democracy of the party in the ward.
The advice was issued by leaders of the Ward notably, Hon. Collins Bello, Hon. Godwin Ezedom, Hon. Micheal Abanimoro, Ezinne Cecilia Ogbonyeri, Chief Philip Onyekpeze, Mr. Peter Egun among others at an enlarged meeting of the Ward held on Saturday, November 7, 2020.
The meeting which was overwhelmed by the large turnout of faithful, was devoid of acrimony and first since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Hon. Collins Bello who is the immediate past LGA Chairman of the party , Chairman Art and Culture and presently, State Financial Secretary of the party, described PDP Ward 6 as unique going by it’s records in past elections.
He asserted that the need for the new executive led by Mr. Friday Kiweze to be prudent and most importantly, maintain the party’s internal democracy cannot be overemphasized, positing that it was important that they give good examples for the party faithful to imbibe.
Going forward, he charged the Ward Councilors to show commitment by assisting the executive to host Ward meetings just as he reads riot acts against unpatriotic members who are kin to indulging in anti-party.
“We don’t want people who will create ranchor for us at elections ground having received money from their paymasters. Hence, members should remain committed to the party in Ward 6 even as we encourage the executive to maintain our internal democracy,” Hon. Bello added.
Hon. Godwin Ezedom who corroborated the speech of Hon. Bello, concelled the faithful against division in the party and in the same vein remainder them to show solidarity.
On her part, Ezinne Cecilia Ogbonyeri, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Mobilization, appreciated both leaders and executive of Ward 6 while observing that both side started well.
She noted that PDP in Ward 6 was not only key to uncommon phenomenon but favoured by the State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, whom she described as superlative leader, adding that anyone who still speak ills of the party, particularly the aftermath of its primaries, was nothing short of been a witchcraft.
This is the time for all members to get involve and show commitment as this time, members shall be rewarded as they work. I am glad on the fact that variou units of the Ward are holding meetings and I want to encourage all to continue,” she added.
She concluded by encouraging elders of the party to build positive path for the youths to emulate as majority of them will soon retire for the youths to make impact.
Hon. Michael Abanimoro also appealed to any grieving member to make peace as the party is binded in unity. He used the medium to advice the new executive not to allow sentiment or financial inducement pull them off the track.
Earlier in his address, the Ward Chairman, Mr. Friday Kiweze, expressed satisfaction over the large turnout of members to the meeting. He also appreciated the leaders for their love and concern to help them serve the people effective.
He expressed optimism that the leaders words of encouragement would help his team to finish strong while leaving behind a more prosperous PDP in Ward 6. He enjoined all the members to keep faith with PDP even as he called on all and sundry to join hands in taking the party to the next level.
