—Donates bed sheets, chairs, sign post to Owanta Health Care Center
—Gives free baby bathing materials to pregnant women
A non-profit and non-Governmental Organization, B&M Caring Hands Foundation has embarked on life changing projects in Ika land. The foundation which was founded by Mrs Blessing Alui, an American based businesswoman has mapped out Ika Land as one of the areas that will benefit from its life changing projects.
The foundation started with Owanta Community Primary Health Care Center, Owanta,in Ika North East Local Government Area, Delta State where it donated bed sheets, plastic chairs,a sign post and tables to the health center. The foundation is also giving a facelift to the health center as painting of the building is already on-going. The gesture did not end there as pregnant women from different communities in the local government were given free baby bathing materials.
The brief ceremony which took place at the premises of Owanta Community Primary Health Care Center, Owanta had in attendance the Executive Chairman,Ika North East Local Government Council, Hon(Barr) Victor Ebonka (ably represented by the Executive Secretary, Ika North East Local Government Health Authority, Dr Paul Oduvwu ), the Councillor representing Ward 5, Ika North East Local Government Council Legislative Arm, Hon Akwe Ucheonye Samson, members of the Owanta Community, among others.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Nigeria’s representative B&M Caring Hands Foundation, Mr Peter Eze Okoro disclosed that as part of the foundation’ s activities to save and improve on the lives of mother and child, it has deemed it fit to identify with Owanta Community Primary Health Care Center, Owanta where it donated bed sheets, plastic chairs, a sign post and tables to the center.
“B&M Caring Hands Foundation is also painting the building of the Owanta Community Primary Health Care Center. This is to enhance and ensure a conducive environment both for service and child delivery. As a non-profit and non-Governmental Organization, B&M Caring Hands Foundation gives a helping hand to children out of school, fights hunger through donations of food. The foundation supports education, proper sanitation/ proper hygiene and poverty eradication,” Mr Peter Eze Okoro stated.
He disclosed that the foundation recently gave medical attention and food items to malnourished mother and child in Ika North East. While urging staff of the Owanta Community Primary Health Care Center to use the donated items judiciously, Eze Okoro stated that the foundation will continue to support health care system in Ika land and beyond.
In his remark, the Ika North East Local Government Council Chairman representative, Dr Paul Oduvwu expressed gratitude to B&M Caring Hands Foundation for assisting to build a better and quality health care system in the local government. He described the effort of the foundation as laudable and advised that it should be sustained.
On his part, the Councillor representing Ward 5 at the Ika North East Local Government Council Legislative Arm,Hon Akwe Ucheonye Samson said that on behalf of the people of Owanta he is grateful to B&M Caring Hands Foundation for the magnanimous donations. He wished the founder of the foundation, Mrs Blessing Alui well in all her endeavours in life.
Rev Alex Mekwuye who spoke on behalf of the Owanta Community thanked the foundation for choosing their health center as one of the beneficiaries of her programmes. They promised to partner with the foundation in any area that will help improve the living standard of their people.
Mrs Stella Okome,on behalf of the pregnant women who are beneficiaries of the free baby bathing materials said that they are grateful to B&M Caring Hands Foundation. They commended the foundation for adding values to their lives.
High points of the ceremony were official presentation of the donated materials to the health center and the pregnant women and taking of group photographs. Mrs Blessing Aliu also renovated the Owanta Primary Health Centre including the provision of window nets.
