A founding member and Ward Co-ordinator of Otu Nmunne, in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Julius Bointa, has called on Peoples Democratic Party leaders and members in government to stop listening and accepting comments from blackmailers because “those blackmailers are the ones causing troubles in Ika South PDP as they are closed to government through their various appointments”.
Mr. Julius Bointa, stated this during an interview with Ika Mirror reporter, during the week at Agbor. He disclosed that Ika South PDP has factions and divisions because of the selfish interest of some of her members.
According to Bointa, “Between the year, 2012 to 2014, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has no strong structure in Ika South. Then some leaders in Ika South asked how to support our own son, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.It was then Ika South Otu Nmunne was formed. Pa John Nwagimeje was the coordinator while Chris Ogala was made the chairman. I was one of the first PDP members who supported the group. As God may have it, Otu Nmunne and Dr Okowa emerged victorious in all the elections. Thereafter, Otu Nmunne formed a committee to reconcile other aggrieved people in other camps to join her.Unfortunately, today, those we brought into Otu Nmunne took over the leadership of PDP in Ika South and they are the ones using blackmails and backbiting to push aside the founding members of Otu Nmunne.
“I am strongly advising PDP leaders and members in authorities to watch them very well because they have been holding series of meetings that after Governor Okowa’s tenure they will go back to their former camps to fight PDP.”
Mr. Bointa who hails from Owa-Alero,Ika North East but has been residing in Agbor, Ika South since 1966 stated that the son of the soil, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has made many of the blackmailers rich by giving them appointments and contracts, adding, “unfortunately, those who formed Otu Nmune have nothing to show for it. The person of Chris Ogala, Mr. Akumazi from Ward 12, Bointa Julius, John Obiazi and many other founding members of Otu Nmunne have no appointments or contracts.
“People who climbed to the top with the name of Otu Nmunne want to pull down Otu Nmunne which is very bad. This set of people were not happy when the present Secretary to the Delta State Government, Barr Chiedu Ebie was appointed commissioner. ” I have to ask a question, the man who appointed Ebie, is he a foolish man?. I asked them in the party ” the person who brought money for you people to share and the people who shared the money, who work pass?. The question was not answered till date. Those people who came from other camps and were given SAs, Executive Assistants and different appointments in the state are the same time contractors while the people who formed Otu Nmunne have nothing to show for their sacrifices.
“I am appealing to people in authorities to help us because if we work and we did not eat we may not have the strength to work again”, Mr Bointa said.
He thanked the Ika South PDP Chairman, Mr. Jude Onya for inaugurating a Reconciliatory Committee to reconcile PDP aggrieved members.He also called on Delta North PDP Chairman,Mr Moses Iduh to look into the issue.
