The Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Delta State, Hon. Chika Ossai on Monday August 24, 2020 inspected the on-going construction of Boji-Boji Owa International market.
Speaking with newsmen after inspection, Hon. Ossai said he very was very impressed with the initiative to upgrade the market to international standard by the Ika North East Local Government Council under the leadership of the chairman, Hon. Victor Ebonka.
According to him, “Ebonka has done very well. He is the first Council Chairman to invite the Commissioner for Trade and Investment to commission and inspect ongoing projects embarked on by the council.
The Ika North East Local Government Area council no doubt has set a pace for other council chairmen to follow and I am happy and thankful to him.
“I am equally impressed with the level and quality of work done so far. The contracting firm, Graceland Channels Limited has shown commitment and capability and I want to assure that Delta State government will engage the construction company more for other market intervention”.
On his part, Hon. Victor Ebonka disclosed that the traders were notified earlier before the commencement of the project. He said, “In order to decongest the teeming population of traders and put smiles on the faces of the traders who were asked to vacate the construction site, food traders were relocated to Ebu-Owa market.
“At first, the traders were unhappy. I gave them free spaces for trading, but since the market is more conducive with business activities booming, the traders are now happy and thanking for the initiative”.
Also responding, the Managing Director /CEO of Graceland Channels Limited, Pastor Nat Omoruyi said they are working day and night everyday to ensure speedy completion of work. He stated that hopefully before September ending that the first mall will be completed followed by the others since the construction work is running pari-passu.
He assured the people and the government of delivering a quality project that will stand the test of time.
