It was a successful outing on Wednesday, December 8, 2020 for a political scientist and public administrator, Hon. John Emenim, as he formally declared his intention to run for the office of Ika South Council’s Chairmanship in the upcoming elections.
The event held amidst encomium witnessed Gale of endorsements by notable political and opinion leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who joined Hon. Emenim in the exercise.
Declaring his intention before the party LGA executive led by Chairman, Mr. Jude Onya, and enthusiastic crowd of supporters, Hon. Emenim said he was in the race to make difference in the local government by way of creating positive impact and also build legacies that will speak after him.
He acknowledged that his administration, when given the mandate, would evidenced incredible performance, particularly closing the gaps between the councillors and the party and encouraging grassroot development while complimenting the Stronger Delta vision of the PDP most distinguished leader, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, to make Ika South an enviable local government in Delta State.
Hon. Emenim who did not underestimate the supremacy of the party, pledged to serve the people diligently and also make the party proud.
Responding, the LGA party Chairman, Mr. Jude Onya, welcomed Emenim and his team.
He remarked that Emenim is a good party man whom the people loves and also expressed optimism that he would work for the people.
However, the party Chairman pointed out that his team stands firmly with the belief of Governor Okowa whom he expressed to have done much in Ika South and also has the power to install the next Council Chairman.
“As long as my leadership remains, we stand with the belief of Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, and I want everybody to have same belief for us to have a smooth and solid election in Ika South.
I will not suggest anybody to the governor because I don’t have anybody in mind. Being an umpire, we the executive will do our best to carry everybody along. We only pray that God will bless us with a chairman that has the kind of mind to work for the people for this local government to continue to develop as chairmanship of the council is for the grassroot,” Mr. Onya added.
The party Chairman concluded by offering prayers for the ambition of Hon. Emenim.
