…as Ebonka ends 1st tenure amidst achievements
The Ika Northeast Local Government Council in Delta State, on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 held her special valedictory session to wrap up its present administration led by Hon. Barr. Victor Ebonka.
The event had in attendance officials of the council who include, its Head of Personnel Management, Treasurer, Secretary, Internal Auditor, Supervisory Councillors and exco officials.
It commenced with a special service in appreciation to the Almighty God for the monumental achievements of the Ebonka led administration and was conducted by a Senior Pastor of Christ Embassy in Ika land, Pastor Prosper Obioma.
While taking a bow, Hon. Barr. Victor Ebonka thanked his team and the management of the council for their commitment which according to him contributed immensely to the much his administration was able to achieve.
He proceeded with the testimony of his track records wherein, he (Ebonka) boldly stated that the local government now stands tall, wears a befiting look and acclaimed as the neatest LGA in Delta State owing to their effort through the initiative of the MOU with the Private Partnership Participants (PPP).
He said, “if you go to Boji-Boji Main Market (Garage) now, you will see up to 200 lockup stores which is almost completed and painting on going.
“The market prior to this time used to be a place which constitutes ‘enviromental hazard’ and was very difficult for us to evacuate refuse generated. But today, we have a very beautiful edifice there.
“We have worked tiredlessly and have also achieved tremendous results.
“We also thanked God for being able to build markets such as Alizomor market and Ebu-Owa temporary market, and by the grace of God, we will complete the blueprint when we return back.
In terms of employment, we have been able to engage our youths as Environmental Marshals and I am very happy to announce that the state government has now employed virtually all of them as State Environmental Marshals.
Street trading was another impediment we were able to nip in the board to have the people access roads such as Convent and Abraka roads with ease. Though we still have challenge of recalcitrant traders, but with the policy we have put in place, I am optimistic that it will be handled.
So I want to thank my team for your contribution towards the success of this tenure,” Ebonka added.
He concluded with words of apology to those he may have offended in the course of duty, and in the same vein pleaded for their forgiveness as his actions according to him were not intentional.
In a chat with newsmen shortly after the session, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Corlina Anazia, described her experience as interesting, pointing out that she was able to gain much experience from her immediate boss, Hon. Barr. Ebonka.
She used the medium to advice upcoming female politicians to be loyal, attentive and be ready to learn.
The Amazon’s words were corroborated by the Secretary to the Local Government Council, Hon. Samuel Egbule, who added that working with Ebonka was encouraging being a focused leader, hardworking and result oriented.
He enjoined Ebonka to continue in his good ways even as he expressed gratitude to PDP members and Ika Northeast residents for their resolve to return Ebonka for a second tenure in office in the forthcoming local government council election.
