As he offers to train teachers on ICT Development
“Teaching is the highest form of understanding”
Teaching is conceptual and intellectual, abstract and concrete, creative, and sequential. It’s about people but framed through ideals.
It’s about content, hearts, minds, the past, the future – whatever we can imagine, teaching and learning are both causes and effects.
Teaching is a noble profession reserved for noble men.
These and more I’m supposed were the thoughts of Dr. Donald Peterson when he recently hosted teachers that were teaching the students undergoing the extramural classes proudly sponsored by D- Peterson Foundation across Ika nation.
D- Peterson Foundation extramural classes were approved by the Delta State Government through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Asaba. The Foundation remains eternally grateful to our smart working Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Senator Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for providing the enabling environment for this programme.
So far, the programme has already started at Ogbemudein Model School, Agbor and at Noisere Primary School, Ime- Obi. The classes run from Monday’s to Thursday’s from 4pm – 6pm while Saturday’s lecture is 9am – 2pm in both centers. The following six subjects are offered: Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics. Arrangement is also in top gear to establish more centers.
The classes are free and open to all Ika youths who are desirous of writing their NECO, WAEC and JAMB examinations with ease.
Dr. Peterson, while welcoming them to his house; used the opportunity to share his dreams for teachers in Ika land, he said “my dream is to one day see a teacher from Ika nation emerging as the best teacher in the world. I want to see a situation where corporate bodies sponsor teachers in an oversea training programme to enhance their capacities”
“I want to see a confident and well-motivated teacher that can stand ahead of his peers”
He went further to ask; “do we forbid a situation where Cars and Houses are part of teacher’s remunerations?
Moving forward, D-Peterson Foundation will train all of you in ICT Development” he concluded.
Responding, the duo of Messrs. Nkenchor Odia and Arimokwu Isaac, who were incidentally the coordinators of Ogbemudein and Noisere centers respectively; thanked Dr. Peterson and members of his foundation for the excellent working relationship existing between them especially in the area of prompt payment of their allowances.
They promised on behalf of other teachers to do their best in ensuring that the aims and objectives of the programme are achieved.
Mr. Okoh E. Osemeke also spoke in a similar vein. Other teachers present are Alionye Jedaiah Irunkwor, Chukwuka Linus, Caroline Irunkwor, Onyibe Victory Isioma, others are, Bridget Omordia Nmonye, Erikume Chuks, Omini Magdalene, Omoyi P, Okunbor Ssolomon and Okolie Jude.
