Firstly, I would like to applaud the Publisher, IKA MIRROR NEWSPAPER for his unique reportage.
On the topic, let’s look at the word- “Community”. It is just a body of people having common interest and sense of belonging- living in a district and to have an effective coverage of happenings in the community. This is where the community Newspaper comes in.
Through the community Newspaper, the people will come to know more about the happenings around them; and they can also showcase themselves in different ways such as: promoting their businesses, wedding ceremonies, birthdays, religious activities, school programmes, hotel and catering services, obituary announcements, etc.
Now you can see the importance and benefits of community newspaper. However, to some, they see reading of Newspaper as alien and this why, perhaps, the need for proper orientation becomes imperative.
Community Newspaper plays unique role in letting out information, educating the people on vital issues and as well as an avenue through which the audience can showcase their goods, ideas and services.
Frankly, the national Newspaper might not be able to cover happenings in the community, but the community Newspaper do. The community Newspapers are closer to the people and do carry out effective gathering of news and happenings in the community very well.
Least I forget, the recent opening of a column NEWS PANAROMA in the IKA MIRROR NEWSPAPER is a welcome development and is quite commendable. For it will afford the people of Ika land and its environs the opportunity to showcase their creativities and what have you.
