The auditorium of Divine Faith Evangelical Mission International, Agbor was filled with worshipers last Sunday, July 19 as members of Association of Persons Living with Disabilities, Ika Chapter came out in their number to thank God for the quick recovery of the executive Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, his wife, Dame (Mrs.) Edith Okowa and their daughter from Covid-19 pandemic infections. The association also thanked God for the lives of the Secretary to the Delta State Government, Mr. Chiedu Ebie and the Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu who also recovered from Covid-19 pandemic infections.
In his message titled, ‘The relevance of going to church’ with a text from Proverbs 5 verses 4-9, the General Overseer, Divine Faith Evangelical Mission, Agbor, Prophet Joseph Igbodo stressed the importance of giving thanks to the Almighty God, stating that anyone that has breath in him or her should always give thanks to the Lord. He described Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as a God fearing gentle man whose contributions to humanity are legendary. He declared that Okowa will finish strong because his administration has laid a very good foundation that will enable it deliver effective democratic dividends to all Deltans.
“Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is a man of the people because he has impacted positively on lives. He has constructed many roads, including Charles Street where my church headquarters is located. Before the construction of Charles Street, I was almost sacked by flood in my church but, God used Okowa to rescue the situation. The same way Okowa rescued Charles Street, he rescued other bad roads in Ika Land. Today, I join physically challenged Persons in Ika Land to thank the Lord for the quick recovery of our dear Governor, his wife, daughter, SSG, Chiedu Ebie and Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu. It’s my prayer that the Almighty God will continue to bless, guide and protect them. Under the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State shall prosper. He will complete his administration without stress and sickness. With Okowa Delta State shall prosper,” Prophet Igbodo stated.
Speaking further, the fire brand clergy thanked members of the Association of Persons Living With Disabilities for deeming it fit to thank God for the recovery of Governor Okowa, his wife, daughter, SSG, Chiedu Ebie, Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu and other people who were infected by Covid-19 pandemic infections. He prayed that Covid-19 pandemic scourge in the world will end soon.
The Chairman of the Association, Mr John Paul, popularly known as, Landlord, in his remark in the church, expressed gratitude to God for the lives of Governor Okowa, his family and members of his cabinet, noting that his association will continue to pray for the governor until his tenure expires in 2023.He said that Okowa has since he assumed office in 2015 made remarkable changes in the state. He used the medium to call on all Deltans to remain resolute in their support for the Okowa’s administration.
He expressed appreciation to the General Overseer, Divine Faith Evangelical Mission International, Prophet Joseph Igbodo for his love for the physically challenged Persons in Ika Land, saying that they will remain grateful to him. He also thanked all Persons who joined them in the thanksgiving service.He wished them well in all their future endeavours.
Speaking in an interview shortly after the thanksgiving service, the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ika North East Local Government, Hon Chuks Agboma commended John Paul and members of his association for thanking God for the live of Governor Okowa, his family and government. He assured that his office will continue to support efforts aimed at moving the PDP and Governor Okowa’s government forward.
Other PDP members present at the thanksgiving service were: Ika South Local Government Council Chairman, Hon (Barr) Victor Okoh, Hon Ralph Azeh, Chief and Chief (Mrs.) Ewere Agbogwe, and Hon Uche Ujor.
High points of the thanksgiving service were the presentation of gift to God and dance round Charles, Imudia and Mariere Streets areas by the physically challenged Persons.
