EDIKE AND DEIN MARKETS, AGBOR: SENATOR OKOWA’S LAUDABLE FINGER SIGNATURE
Quality leadership is a subset of governance, wherein public resources and problems are managed effectively, efficiently and in response to critical needs of the people. It is not just about making right decisions but also about the best possible process for implementing those decisions in the best interest of the society.
In the light of the above, the Delta state governor, His Excellency, Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, who believes in responsiveness, participation, transparency, rule of law and government of inclusion and equitable distribution of wealth and developmental infrastructure has again listened and heeded the call for help by the people of the ancient Agbor Kingdom for a market and they got two after all.

As an Ika South Constituent who grew up in Agbor, I know the A to Z of the Economic position of the town and I do know the importance of a well structured and situated market in my community; I understand the state of the Economic backwardness of the town before Gov. Okowa came on board and I can tell how it has improved now. I took my time to arrive that the governor has not just done well and still doing well but done exceedingly noble.
In every organization, institution or office, there is always or usually a need for periodic assessment of the performances as well as appraisals of staff of those organizations. Good Performance can be seen to be the accomplishment of a given task measured against preset known standards of accuracy, utmost completeness, cost and speed. The performance of a governor in our present democratic government is measured by the improvement of the quality of life (economic, social, cultural and political) in the state during the period of his governance. The Okowa-led government has been able to change the ugly economic narratives for good by the construction of the Edike market and the rebuilding of the CTC market (Now Dein ultra modern market).
The decision of Governor Okowa to strategically situate these two markets is a smart one worthy of commendations. He has through this feat demonstrated his commitment to the development plan of the state anchored on his SMART agenda that has human capital development, infrastructural and economic development as well as sustainable environment as subsets. With this feat, his love for the ancient town of Agbor and neighbouring towns and villages in the state has translated or metamorphosed into sustainable development.
As part of effort to fight poverty and usher prosperity, the governor believes that improving human development in the state must begin with the creation of wealth, a process that requires the existence of a robust market for traders and business people. And being a man whose yes is yes has through this laudable finger signature fulfilled his campaign promise of planting a visible developmental market that will stand the test of time in the area, aimed at helping to harness the economic potentials and side attractions notable within the Edike axis of Agbor metropolis, which is expected to boost economic activities in the area, provide new settlements and improve the standard of living of the people.
I am particularly impressed with the two markets and I say kudos to Gov. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for making it happen in my time and in my town.
