An American trained Organic Chemist and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State, Dr. Chukwuma O. Nwaonicha has congratulated the governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on his re-election last Saturday, September 19. Nwaonicha who was reacting to the outcome of the Edo State governorship election where Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu emerged victorious described the victory as a sweet one for Nigeria’s democracy
The community leader said that the beauty of the last Saturday’s Edo State governorship election was a total triumph for Edo people and defeat of godfatherism in the state. He noted that his greatest joy was that the people of Edo State came out enmasse to exercise their franchise by voting their conscience and against injustice from a self acclaimed political god father and former governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
According to the Chairman, Ika South PDP Reconciliation Committee, “I congratulate the executive governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, on their well deserved victory at the governorship election that took place on Saturday, September 19. The outcome of the election which saw Governor Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu re-elected for another term of four years was a complete triumph of democracy against injustice. I thank the good people of Edo State for saying yes to light and no to darkness.
The September 19 Edo State governorship election which favors the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has nailed godfatherism in the state and paved way for a true democratic process where only the wish of the people would always prevail.
“I commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for his bravery, focus and maturity all through the electioneering process. Now that the battle has been fought and won, I wish Obaseki and members of his executive well in the remaining part of this tenure and a successful second tenure in advance. I am using this medium to call on the Edo State people to double their support for Obaseki for the overall development of the state.”
He concluded by hailing Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and all other PDP governors and leaders who in different ways contributed immensely towards the landslide victory of Governor Godwin Obaseki. He advised that the synergy among the PDP South South Governors and Leaders should be sustained as that will serve as a boost in the 2023 general elections. The transparency in the Edo State election is overwhelming. God bless all that made it possible.
