Herbal practice: Egwuanimkwu calls for government support
The Chairman Tradomedical Practitioners in Idumuesah in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, Pa (Dr) Orie Egwuanikwu has urged tradomedical practitioners in his Chapter (Idumuesah) to be good at what they do, as he bemoaned that some persons who he said claimed to be tradometical practitioners are quacks, thereby, putting the lives of their client at risk.
The chairman whose greetings is ‘Ogiagbe’ stated that though he was born into the profession where he learnt it from his parents, yet, he went further for refresher courses and programmes to broaden his knowledge in the field.
According to him, the world is dynamic and anyone who wants to excel must update his or her chosen career.
Pa (Dr) Egwuanikwu who is also popularly known, Ogi-Udon-Ebi opined that God has provided roots and herbs to treat any kind of ailment, disclosing that it is left for human’s to discover the right herb for the right ailment.
He claimed that herbal products are better than orthodox drugs which he said are harmful to health.
Ogi-Udon-Ebi said that during his apprenticeship days with his late father he specialized in good-luck medicine, epilepsy, pile, medicine for protection, medicine for posion of any kind and medicine for marine spirit.
He called on government at all levels to pay more attention to herbal practitioners by making provision for research and monitoring their activities maintaining that if government shows more interest in tradomedical practice the cure for a lot of ailments will be discovered.
