As muslims celebrate Eid-el Malud which signifies the birth of Prophet Mohammed, festivities and merry making was observed among the Muslim community here in Ika land. In an interview with a prominent member of the Muslim community in Agbor, Alhaji Issa Alli, he highlighted the significance of the celebration. According to him, “We are celebrating the birth of Prophet Mohammed. We do celebrate it every year. We do this to pray for Nigeria and the whole world. This also signifies peace for all Moslems in the land. I advise every moslem to maintain peace and orderliness, as we celebrate this day. We should not use this celebration as a yardstick to fight ourselves and other religions. People are prone to danger during celebration. We should do away with any thing, capable of tarnishing the image and reputation of our Islamic faith, but cling to that which is good and acceptable by Allah. Quarrelling with one another in the country will not help us but we love and cherish one another and that is what Islam entails”.
Speaking on the peaceful nature of the host community he said, Ika people are very hospitable and peaceful. We have been here for a long time and there has no been any rancour between us”.
While wishing Muslims all over the world a fruitful celebration, he appreciated Ika people for their accommodating attitude, urging them to keep it up, as he prayed God to bless them in all areas of life..
