Committee members in charge of the Artisans in Ika Federal Constituency, in the person of Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor, on Political Matters, Hon. Godwin Ezedom, Special Assistant on Political Matters, Hon. Amechi Ijeh and Kobindi Ogana, also political aide to Governor Okowa last week met with artisans in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The meeting which took place on Thursday, October 1, 2020, in Boji-Boji, Owa recorded a high number of attendance.
While addressing the artisans, Hon. Ezedom stated that it’s a new dawn for them.
He assured the artisans of a new beginning, stating that his committee will serve as a gap between them and the state government.
He said “Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is aware of the roles you ( artisans) played in the last general elections) and he is not going to leave you unrewarded. Whatever are your challenges write them out because Governor Okowa has promised to address those challenges “.
He assured the artisans that they will not be shortchanged in any form. He urged them to prepare a day they (artisans) will be celebrated, declaring that it will be a big event to remember.
In an interview, Hon. Ezedom disclosed that the Senior Political Adviser to the state governor, Hon. Solomon Funkekeme set up a committee for the welfare and management of artisans in the state.
According to him, the Committees constituted by the Senior Political Adviser has been mandated to breech the gap between the artisans and the state government with a view to address whatever challenge before them.
In his words, “Artisans are the bulk of the people, anybody that has a craft is an artisan. The number of artisans in the society cannot be undermined, as a politician when you ignore such people, you are in trouble”.
Continuing, he said, “Our committee is working to bring all artisans in Ika Federal Constituency together so as to make sure they speak with one voice to enable them achieve collective goals”.
On his part, Hon. Kobindu Ogana promised that their committee will ensure that the issues raised at the meeting by the artisans are addressed in no distance time.
He advised the artisans to keep on supporting the Okowa led government in order for them to reap the dividends of democracy.
Similarly, Hon. Amechi Ijeh added that the artisans are the pivots of politics in the nation.
He advised them to keep on supporting Governor Okowa, assuring that whatever they are doing now, the state government will not forget them.
In a related development, the Chairman, Artisans Association, Ika North East, Comrade Uzum Patrick applauded Ezedom, Kobindi and Ijeh for their support, noting that promise made is promise kept.
” As committee members from the office of the Senior Political Adviser to our governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa we are proud to have you in our midst. We are prepared to give you one hundred percent of our support but, do not fail us. We will not be happy if the state government disappoints us after we have given it our full support,” Uzum said.
He prayed that God will continue to strengthen the committee members, give them more grace to continue to represent them( artisans) without any form of deceit.
