Sallah: Hausa Community celebrates with Agbor monarch
…gets commendations for bond with Agbor people

Friday, July 31, 2020 will remain evergreen for indigenes of Hausa community in Agbor kingdom who joined their Islamic faithful across the world to successfully marked the year 2020 Sallah celebration also known as Eid-el-kabir.
The special event, despite been constrained by Covid-19 pandemic, heralded joy for the people as they were privileged of celebrating the day with the revered king of Agbor kingdom, HRM. Dr. Benjamin Ikenchuku, Keagborekuzi the first.
The community been represented at the Dein’s palace by their stakeholders which includes their Sariki, Chief Imam, Chairman Cattle dealers Agbor, leaders of Area community amongst others were appreciated by the respected king for their peaceful coexistence with the Agbor people.
The king who stressed the bond of Hausa community, commended them for upholding the virtue of their forefathers, and in the same vein encouraged them to keep integrating with the Agbor people.
His words, “I thank you for the special relationship you have kept with not only me, but my father, grandfather and the entire Agbor people. This bond has brought us to this present day which I am indeed, very happy.
“The more you come and be amongst us, the more my Chiefs and the people will see you from a different point of view to become more comfortable in integrating with us. However, it is sad when a trusted community be now attached to bad behaviour. Therefore, I urge you to expose those using Hausa community to commit crime in Agbor for them to face the consequences of their actions.
“While I congratulate you for the special day and its significance been celebrated on a Friday, I thank you for praying with me and I wish you all peace and greatness for the future.”
“So, thank you for accepting to take Agbor as your home and always endeavour to keep the good work. May the Almighty Allah bless each and every one of you,” the king added.
Earlier in the visit, the group spokesman, described the day as unique, noting that it was rare for Muslims to celebrate Sallah on a Friday, hence they were indeed very happy.
He briefly explained the history for the Sallah celebration where Muslims were permitted to slaughter ram as stated in the holy Quran, noting that their initiative for coming to the palace, was an attribute emulated from their forefathers, who during their days, would not fail to celebrate Sallah with the king at his palace.
He observed that Agbor people are dynamic and lovable to have enabled them embrace brotherliness, acknowledging that the monarch was exceptional by been a father who has been nice to the people of Hausa community in Agbor.
“Your majesty, it is only prayers that we the Hausa and Arewa community in Agbor have to offer in appreciation of your love and kind gesture towards us. We pray Almighty Allah to continue to sustain you on the thrown of your ancestors,” he added.
Climax of the visit was a presentation of a ram to the king as his own share of entertainment for the Sallah celebration.
