Alihame Community, Agbor last Friday, June 26, 2020 officially handed over keys of a new building to Ika South Local Government Council. The gesture according to the community was a donation in support of the health care system in the local government.
Handing over the keys of the building to the Ika South Local Government Council Chairman, Hon (Barr) Victor Okoh who was ably represented at the event by the Supervisory Councilor for Health, Hon Lucky Omorogie, Elder Dennis Nwawuku stated that project which was financed and executed by Alihame Community was part of her efforts to support Ika South Local Government Council in the area of health care. He disclosed that his community in 2013 also built, furnished and donated a health care center to the Ika South Local Government Council, noting that the donations were geared towards achieving a quality health care for Alihame residents and Ika South in general. He enjoined Government to make good use of the facility, stressing that his community will continue to partner with Government, particularly in the area of health care.
“On behalf of Alihame Community, I hand over the keys of this new building to Ika South Local Government Council for the better health care of our people. We will continue to partner with Government, particularly in the area of health care because a healthy community is a wealthy community,” he said.
He used the medium to appreciate his Alihame people for their concern, love and commitment towards the growth and development of their community, urging them to keep on with the good works.
Speaking shortly after commissioning the health care building, Hon (Barr) Victor Okoh thanked Alihame Community for the efforts and sacrifices in executing the project, stating that Ika South Local Government Council will remain grateful to the community. He promised that his administration will ensure complete improvement of facilities in the health care center. He called on other communities in the local government to emulate Alihame Community as health care issues are better addressed if they is full cooperation from communities involved. He promised that his administration will continue to make the health care of Ika South people a top priority.
The Chairman of Alihame Land Committee, Elder Johnson Onyemekeihian, in an interview said that his community is strongly committed in partnering with Government so as to achieve a quality health care for their people. He disclosed that his community is very happy and proud of the Matron, Alihame Health Care Center, Mrs. Loveth Durojaye for the good work she is doing. He described Mrs. Durojaye as a God sent health personnel to Alihame Community as her coming has achieved a lot in health care for Alihame Community. He appealed to Government to provide the health care center with security guards for the effective security of the facilities at the center.
Among those present at the event were: Chief Bernard Nwaki, the Secretary, Alihame Community, Elder Nwadozie, Dr (Mrs.)Mwabuwa Adaeze, Professor Osiele and elders of the community.
