The Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Youth Development, Comrade Nyemike Ukwadinachi, has expressed deep sadness over the sudden passage of Late Hon. Christian Okpambor, whom he stated was his father and mentor.
Comrade Ukwadinachi, made the statement during an interactive session with newsmen over the weekend at the burial of the late Executive Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Community Development and Youth Matters.
He described the late Okpambor, as a leader of great repute, a man that lived an exemplary life, a role model who lived all his life doing good for people, a man of goodwill and generosity and a great philanthropist.
Continuing, he stated that in the history of Ika political terrain, the late icon was the first known politician of Ika extraction that gave out several exotic cars to the masses as Empowerment; saying that, that was why the ceremony witnessed large turnout of personalities who came to accord their leader his last respect; disclosing that late Hon. Christian Okpambor was fondly referred to as “King of Boys” because he carried along all the youths of Delta State in everything he does; maintaining that he is one of his political sons and that he learnt a lot from his late mentor.
Continuing, he stated that it was a rude shock and a sad reality that they are saying goodbye to the fallen Iroko. According to him, “Death has caused a great havoc with his demise because death has shattered a lot of great ambitions which he had in mind to actualize; explaining that he had a lot of ideas to turn the lives of the people around him positively.
Talking about what he learnt from his late Father, he revealed that the first thing he learnt was his simplicity and his admiration of extending affection to the less privileged through his humanitarian services and generosity. He described him as a man who thinks of others first before himself; sacrificing his sweat, resources and everything for humanity.
Speaking further, he stated that he believes that late Hon. Okpambor, had completed his mission on earth, haven impacted positively on the lives of people and the enthronement of good governance in Delta State; disclosing that, it was the reason why he (Okpambor), had to bury his political ambition in order to work for the emergence of our present governor, saying that he channelled all his resources, that even after the 2019 Elections he went bankrupt; maintaining that, that was the kind of man Hon. Christian Okpambor was; someone that is ready to sacrifice all that he has, when he believes in you. He expressed optimism that his late political father is presently in heaven seated at the right hand side of God because of his good works.
He stated that he would forever remain grateful to the late Icon for all that he did for him and most especially for recommending him to His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State who appointed him as his Special Assistant on Youth Development.
