Agbor based doctor of occult science and public affairs analyst, Chief Dr Yomi Oduselu Hassan (Ekwueme of Akumazi Kingdom) has stated during an interview that there may be a bloody coup d’etat in Nigeria if the state of insecurity and rising economic hardship are not addressed.
Analysing the current state of affairs in the country, he observed that the country is slowing winding down the path of anarchy and economic recession which are indices that make for the staging of coups. ” I foresee a very bloody coup between now and January with the way things are going in the country. The level of insecurity and violent crimes in the country is very alarming and the recent freezing of accounts and arrests of EndSars protesters will give rise to a second wave of protests which will spell disaster for the country. The youths would be more daring this time around and will confront armed soldiers and police which will result in bloodshed and wanton destruction of properties”, he said.
He noted that these attacks on some known EndSars protesters will not only provoke the youths, but also make the constituted panel of enquiry ineffective as key witnesses would be scared to come forward with their testimonies for fear of attack by the authorities. Still dwelling on insecurity, he urged the government to beef up security and avert kidnaping, armed robbery and other violent crimes in the North and other parts of the country, especially as we are fast approaching the Yuletide season.
Commenting on the deadlock between the federal government and the academic staff union of universities, he expressed total disgust at government’s nonchalant approach towards improving tertiary education in the country. “It is quite shameful that our government has turned a deaf ear to education in the country. For almost a year now our universities have been shut down for the government’s refusal to meet the demands of ASUU. How much is the money that they can’t pay? In the same country where a single lawmaker goes home with millions of naira monthly, our government has decided to keep the youths at home because of the nationwide ASUU strike, it is indeed pitiful”.
Commenting on rising cost of living, he noted that Nigerians have never had it this bad with fuel pump price at almost two hundred naira per litre. He stated that many families now find it very difficult to feed as a result of the rising cost of food items and other commodities. He urged the government to address these issues as a matter of urgency and prevent the country from descending into anarchy and worst still usurpation of government.
