Umunede Monarch, His Royal Majesty Dr. Ezeagwu Ezenwali Agadagidi I, JP, in a chat with newsmen during the week stated that the Idumu Ileje quarters of his Kingdom has no land dispute with any community.
According to Obi Agadagidi, “Esegbana and Ozoba families of Idumu-Ile quarters of Umunede are the only quarters having land dispute with Emuhu Community in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State and which was judicially decided upon as far back as 1994.
“I want to use this opportunity to state categorically that whichever documents that had been signed do not affect Idumu-Ileje’s land for the fact that they share a common boundary with Idumu Ile quarters and Owa but not Emuhu axis. Based on this fact, the land which is in dispute does not involve Idumu-Ileje’s land since the quarter does not share boundary with Emuhu Community.
“Whichever land that belongs to Ileje quarters that is being encroached upon does not form any part of the land in dispute. I also want to use this opportunity to debunk the propaganda making the rounds that the Idumu-Ileje land area is now ceded as part of the area of land in dispute taken over by the government. Therefore, the Idumu-Ileje area of land is not at all in dispute.
“The reason for the protest by the Idumu-Ileje quarters is what I do not know and in addition, Idumu-Ileje land is not a communal land but owned by individuals and has been inherited by the individuals from their forefathers”.
Continuing, the monarch expressed dissatisfaction over the large scale misinformation of his people. He stressed that all stories or claims that some people are making about the Idumu-Ileje land area is untrue.
Obi Agadagidi while suing for peace, reminded his people of Ileje quarters who own lands purported to be in dispute to adhere to the advice given to proper delineation and identification of their lands.
