Members of Ika Children in Diaspora, a pan Ika group last Thursday, July 30, 2020 paid a courtesy visit to the Dein of Agbor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr Benjamin Ikenchuku Keagborekwuzi 1, at his royal palace at Ime-Obi, Agbor. While welcoming members of the group to his palace, the revered Agbor Monarch called on the people (Ika Children in Diaspora) to imbibe the culture of contributing meaningfully to the development of the kingdom.
The royal father noted that the call will help project the image that would attract development to the kingdom, adding that the uniqueness of the kingdom was to bring the needed development that would be beneficial to the people in the area.
He urged the people to be proactive in ideas that would change the narratives of the old generations, stressing that Agbor Kingdom, Delta State and Nigeria is needed a new narrative that will transform the country to a better society everyone would be proud of.
He implored them to always dis-associate themselves from the activities of fraudsters, drug abuse, rituals, armed robbery, cultism and other activities that are inimical to the growth and development of the kingdom, just as he urged them to always engage themselves into social activities that would make them to be more responsible in the society.
The Agbor Monarch who commended the achievements and plans of the association further encouraged them to continue to demonstrate the commitment of bringing Agbor to lime light of massive development.
While congratulating members of the group for coming together as one body, the Dein said that his kingdom needs able bodied young generation that are full of positive ideas that would strengthen the rich cultural heritage of Agbor which, according to him, would attract rapid transformation into the kingdom.
He further admonished the people to always exhibit the epitome of peace, love and unity everyone would be proud of.
Earlier, the Chairman, Comrade Joseph Ihiekaonye intimated the Agbor monarch about his group’s existence, saying that their main purpose of coming together was to contribute their quota towards development of the kingdom.
He stated that since their coming on board two years ago, they have through the group impacted positively on the lives of Ika people especially, the youths.
He added that his group will continue to sensitize the youths about the danger of engaging themselves in cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping and the narratives of school “is” a scam, which he said, would tarnish the image of the kingdom.
He posited that unity was what the people needed to foster peace and progress that will promote the image of the kingdom, state and the country at large.
While enumerating the achievements of the association to include, printing of T-shirts, banners and bill boards that were used to support the re-elections of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon. Victor Nwokolo of the Federal House of Representatives and Hon. Festus Chukwuyem Okoh of State House of Assembly, Comrade Ikeke pointed out that his group has mapped out plans to repair pot holes at the busy Abuja/Warri Express Way, close to the College of Education, Agbor main gate.
He commended the Agbor monarch for being an exemplary king whose reign, he said, has brought great blessing that has paved way for the development of the kingdom.
He added that the leadership style of the monarch has transformed Agbor into a vibrant kingdom and envy of other kingdoms.
High points of the visit were presentation of kola-nuts to His Royal Majesty and taking of group photographs.
