Illegal removal of my vehicle number plate and theft of my money by Ika Northeast Taskforce on wrong parking

Specifically on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, I parked my car between former UBA and Dorothy Street along Lagos/Asaba where there is no sign of “No Parking” in order to get a few items before heading to the bank to lodge in the sum of nine hundred and fifty thousand, seven hundred and twenty naira only(950,720), which I left in my car, a green Nissan Jeep with registration number GGE734CZ.

After twenty minutes I returned only to observe that my car which was properly locked before I left, had the door on the driver’s side half open and one of my wipers raised up while the other was down, but with a little paper placed underneath. I checked the paper and found it was a receipt from Ika Northeast Local Government Council with full proof that they remove my car number plate. When I checked inside my car, I found out that my money, the entire nine hundred and fifty thousand, seven hundred and twenty naira was gone, which means these operatives of Ika Northeast local government council, forced my door open to steal my money and also illegally remove my plate number.

I am using this medium to appeal to the Chairman, Hon Victor Ebonka Esquire to tell his boys to return my money and plate number peacefully within 24 hours of this publication or we meet in the court of law. I am a law abiding citizen, educated and know that I didn’t park my car in a no parking area. I have contacted my lawyers and as stated earlier, if my money and plate number are not returned within the specified timeline, then I will resort to legal action.

I also want to use this medium to advise the public, especially car owners in Ika Northeast to be wary as these council officials or they might also fall victim and lose their valuables. For those who have fallen victim, they should report to the authorities.

We have laws in this country and every Nigerian is free to move freely. I am ready to expose the illegal activities of this taskforce members which is criminality under the cloak of the law.
Once again for the sake of peace, I want my money and plate number returned.
