A social critic and public affairs analyst, Chief Dr Yomi Hassan has called for an increased level of security in the state by security agencies in order to forestall crime and insurgency, by advocating for a stop and search policy by the police and other security outfits. This call was made at the back heel of the recent threat of violence by a Fulani Jihadists group which vowed to unleash terror on citizens of Asaba and Agbor if the state government fails to reverse it’s policy banning open grazing in the state.
Hassan while lamenting the poor state of security in the country, called on all security agencies especially the police to live up to their duties by conducting a stop and search policy on suspicious motorists and pedestrians alike, claiming it will go a long way in preventing insurgency in the state.
“I call on governor Okowa to empower all security agencies to conduct stop and search on motorists and pedestrians and probably impose a curfew for a period of time in the state. Any suspicious looking person should be searched and nocturnal movement should be restricted in order to help prevent this extremist group from making good their promise to disrupt the peace in the state”.
He called on all residents to adhere to all security protocols and report every suspicious individual or activity to the relevant security agencies nearest to them.
