The State Congress of the Delta State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN in her meeting held on the 12th of January in Agbor has passed a vote of confidence on Comrade Kenneth Okorie and also adopted him as the sole candidate in the forthcoming state election of the council scheduled for the 24th through 26th of February, 2021.
The vote of confidence on him and his executive as well as endorsing him for another term as sole candidate was affirmed at the State Congress which is the highest decision making organ of the Council via a motion moved by Comrade Esemudje Obaro and seconded by Comrade Gometi Crested after critically x-raying the achievements of the present leadership of the Council in the state.
The congress averred that there was no need changing a winning team and thereafter unanimously adopted Comrade Okorie as the sole candidate in the election
Highpoints of the well attended meeting were the presentation of the 2018 national constitution of the council as amended to the state chairman by the Vice Chairman, South South, Comrade Innocent Ajayi and the inauguration of a four-man Electoral Committee to oversee the conduct of the election.
The meeting had in attendance the Commissioner for Youth Development Comrade Ifeanyi Egwuyenga who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Dioru Oshevwiyo and other staff of the Ministry; the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Youths Comrade Dele Akpatashi, South South Zonal Vice Chairman Comrade Innocent Ajayi, members of the Elders Council of the NYCN, past chairmen and secretaries of the council, local government chapter chairmen and heads of voluntary organizations.
In an address, the Youth Development Commissioner Comrade Egwuyenga described the executive as visionary and purposeful and urged them to redouble efforts in their second tenure stressing that the endorsement was a clear indication of excellent performance.
The Delta State Chairman of the NYCN Comrade Kenneth Okorie thanked the congress for the confidence reposed in him and his executive pledging to surpass the record in his second tenure which starts in February 2021.
He charged youths not to allow anyone lure them into unwholesome activities emphasizing that year 2021 was a time to exhaust all legitimate means to get empowered and equipped to take the driver’s seat in the scheme of things.
Comrade Okorie thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his youth friendly policies especially his avowed commitment to kick poverty out of the state and assured him of unalloyed support of Delta youths in building a stronger Delta State.
