Pa Vicent Eghomie, the Okpara-Uku of Alihame Quarters, Abavo in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State blamed the challenges facing the nations on, among other accumulated years of leadership failure. He decried the level of political irresponsibility and abuse of office that has continued to plague every level of government in the nation.
Pa Eghomie said such mismanagement of public funds and economic carelessness has continued to worsen Nigeria’s dept profile and economic outlook, plunging the economy into more depression he stated.
The Okpara-Uku still get it right when he said “if we take accountable governance more seriously and take more responsible decisions in our national matters, we must stop the wastage that has plunged us into depts. And begin to make better plan for ourselves and the future. Let us stand on the unity that comes from our ethnic diversity and build a better nation we can be proud of Eghomie advised.
He urged Nigerians to use the 60th celebration Anniversary to make new resolutions of better commitment to the countrys progress and ensure more generous contributions to the development of the nation. He said Nigeria belongs to everyone and it is everyone’s responsibility to share in the blames of past failure.
He called for more prayers that God will help the country overcome the challenges facing her, ranging from poverty, insecurity, unemployment, corruption and other ills that have continued to threaten Nigerians and Nigeria’s peaceful co-existence.
The Okpara-Uku said that Nigerians should awaken their spirit to overcome the present challenges facing the country. He noted with such spirit, the nation would plan for generations yet unborn.
In his words, “60years in the life of a nation may not be much but, it is for us Nigerians. So much has happened within this 60 years, that is to tell us that God loves our country. It is worth celebrating that inspite of every scary twist, Nigeria has remained one indivisible nation, to the glory of God.
In a related development, Pa Vicent Eghomie cried out to the Delta State Government led by Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa to remember the community as the community is yet to benefit from the Government.
According to the community leader, since the creation of Delta State his people have not benefited from the government in terms of socio amenities and infrastructural development. He therefore appealed for the construction of link reads in the community to enable farmers to move their produce easily and at lower cost, provide electricity for his people to have access to portable bore-hole water and to facilitate on the health centre in the community.
He called on the sons and daughters of Abavo both at home and in diasporas to take interest in what is happening in the community and contribute their quota in making life better for others who are less privileged.
