The newly inaugurated National Association of Ika Students ( NAIS) nationwide, has held their thanksgiving service at Christ Holy Church International, Agbor Branch (11),at number 35 Osian Street, Boji-Boji,Owa. The President and members of the association were in church to celebrate their peaceful election and the successful inauguration.
The national President of the Association( NAIS), Comrade Godstime Osayande said that they were in church to give thanks to God.
According to him, “God was on our sides and He will continue to direct our steps, so, it is very important that we give him thanks.All manners of threats, all manners of talks but God delivered us to the Glory of His name. By God’s grace our election was peaceful and we have come to return the honour to God alone. We thank God for what he did for us ; the Lord is our strength and as we are moving on to our positions, trusting in Him, we will render selfless service unto our people.
The new NAIS President gave assurance that his tenure will enhanced equity and fairness .
The Pastor of the church prayed for the NAIS Executive and wished the apex Ika association well in all their activities.
After the thanksgiving service, the NAIS national executive paid a scheduled visit to Senior Special Assistant to the executive governor of Delta State on Special Duties and Environment, Sir Nwaeke Samuel Ogochukwu. The NAIS leader, Ebegboni Christian Chuks appreciated Sir Nwaeke for his warm reception, stating that unemployment is the greatest problem to graduates in Nigeria.
Responding, Nwaeke advised that graduates of Delta State extraction should key into skill acquisition programmes before government jobs arrive.He thanked members of the newly inaugurated NAIS executive for the visit.
The executive also visited its grand patron, Dr Donald Peterson at his residence in Agbor. Comrade Ebegboni during the visit thanked Dr Donald Peterson for his philanthropic works to the people of Ika land.He calls for his assistance in moving NAIS forward.
Dr Donald Peterson in his response said that he was very happy with the visit. He commended former president of the association, Mr. Agbontaen Uche Emmanuel for his achievements while in office. He said Agbotean launched many programmes that have helped some less privileged Ika persons, schools, communities and government.
“During Comrade Agbontean’s tenure, many markers board were distributed to schools, and he introduced data based programme.He advised all Ika students to study hard and make Ika proud. He also advised all to acquire required skills as it will help them in future.
