The National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has screened aspirants for the 2020 local government chapter election.
The exercise held successfully on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 was done in conjunction with the Delta State Ministry of Youths Development.
The exercise was conducted by an 8-man committee among which five were from the youth council state executive and three from the ministry led by Mr. Morka who in an interview with journalists commended both chapters of Ika Federal Constituency for their maturity during the screening exercise.
He remarked that the exercise went smoothly, adding that all aspirants which converged in Agbor from across the local government areas of Delta North complied to the electoral guidelines.
“Most of the things required were well presented,” he said.
It could be recalled that the Delta State Chairman of NYCN who was also in attendance, had earlier advised the aspirants to be well coordinated, clearing that all should endeavour do the needful, as to having their documents well arranged, to ensure an easy passage of the screening exercise.
He also advised that the youth council election was not a do or die affair as it was only a call to serve selflessly. He wished all good luck.
The Ika Northeast Chairmanship aspirant, Comr. Lucky Ehiobu and his Ika South counterpart, Comr. Christian Izegede, in a seperate interview described the conduct of the exercise as satisfactory.
They pointed out that the officials were fair on the job, adding that good number of the aspirants from the nine local government areas of Delta North were qualified to run for the election.
Meanwhile, Comr. Izegede enjoined successful aspirants to be more coordinated and peaceful, particularly at the main election to enable them show good example as their will be no need for rancor or mobilizing thugs to usurb the electoral process.
“All we need is free and fair election to tell Nigerians that the youths can lead and can also have a credible election,” Izegede posited.
