Omumu Community in Agbor has celebrated this year’s new yam festival. The annual festival was celebrated by the people of the community on Monday, September 21.
The Elema of Omumu, Chief Ndidi Ibegbulem during the festival prayed for his people and also thanked God Almighty for keeping them alive to celebrate the 2020 iwa igi (new yam festival).
The community during the festival played host to some personalities like Dr Donald Peterson, the founder of D-PETERSON Foundation, Senior Special Assistant to the governor of Delta State,on Women Development, Ezinne (Mrs.) Cecilia Ogboyeri, the Deputy Chairman, Ika South Local Government Council, Hon (Mrs.) Patience Agboma. Andrew Agbogun, the representative of Onya of Ihu-Ozomor and Chief of Staff, D-PETERSON Foundation, Hon Andrew Agwaze, a native of Omumu.
In his brief remark at a ceremony organized by the Elema of Omumu, Chief Ndidi Ibegbulem as part of the activities marking the festival, Dr Donald Peterson thanked the Elema for upholding the tradition of his forefathers, assuring that he will continue to identify with the community.
In his response, Chief Ibegbulem thanked Dr Donald Peterson for coming to celebrate with him and also, for the good things he is doing in Agbor and beyond. He also thanked all persons who were present to celebrate the iwa igi festival with him.
