Delta State House of Assembly candidate, Ika South Constituency, under the platform of Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), in the 2011 State Assembly election, Mr Osawe Chucks has filed a suit challenging the victory of Ikechukwu Ameachi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) whom he alleged rigged the election and was declared winner on the ground that he won the election.
The proceedings were clear going by the number of witnesses and evidence available for Mr Osawe Chucks.
Unfortunately, Mr Osawe Chucks did not witness the tribunal judgement as he was assassinated on 3rd of July, 2013 alongside one of his sons and daughter by unknown gunmen. The assassins also went ahead to burn down the house of late Mr Osawe Chucks. His only surviving son, Osawe Monday who escaped the assassination attack ran away from home for the safety of his life.
According to his Elder brother, Mr John Osawe, the gunmen sent a notice to the Osawe’s family and threatened not to rest until they get rid of the entire family especially, the only surviving son, Osawe Monday. However, supporters of the deceased had come out in large numbers with placards protesting the death of Mr Chuks Osawe.
