Sunday, September 6, 2020, was a day of Celebration and Thanksgiving to Almighty God, as the Palace of Owa Kingdom rolled out drums to celebrate with the revered monarch of Owa Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Obi (Dr.) Emmanuel Efeizomor II JP, OON, The Obi of Owa Kingdom, as he celebrated 61 years on the throne of his forefathers.
The epoch event which took place at the magnificent Owa Palace Hall, Owa-Oyibu; the celebration though modest because of the COVID-19 Protocols, Showcased dint of royalty; in attendance were very important personalities from all walks of life and notable sons and daughters of Owa Kingdom.
In a brief remark, the renowned Royal Father, the Obi of Owa Kingdom, attributed all his achievements since his ascension to the throne to God, saying that God is the major factor of his reign of 61 years on the throne of his forefathers; disclosing that upon assumption on the throne he had to run to Jesus Christ, who equally helped him to rule his Kingdom, saying that if not for God, he wouldn’t have been alive up to this day.
Continuing, The Chairman, Delta State Council Of Traditional Rulers and The Spiritual Head Of Owa Kingdom, appreciated everyone who graced the occasion.
He thanked his fellow Obis, his Chiefs and all that have been with him over the years for their cooperation. The Royal Father specially thanked the Delta State Governor His Excellency Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and some individuals who have been of great support to him in the past Sixty One years.
He recounted an incidence that occurred several years ago when he was a youth, about how a soothsayer and Palms reader looked at one of his palms and told him that he was not going to live up to 50 years; saying that after the man told him that, he rejected the man’s prediction and made some Prophetic declaration on his palms and prayed on it that it will fetch him long life, good health, wealth and all the wonderful blessings of God.
While thanking God for His benevolence of longevity, disclosed to the gathering that his father died at the age of 40 years old, while his grandfather died at the age of 29 years old.
Continuing, he recounted the pains and suffering of his mother as a widow for over 30 years after the death of her husband. He noted that the traditional institution and the society have failed in their responsibilities of taking proper care of the women and widows in our societies; saying that “because of this the women have lost faith in life”. He urged the Men and well to do members of the society to rise up to the challenges of taking care of the widows and women; saying “We must defend our women, most women die from Snake bite in the farms; our women don’t have something to retire with, hence we should extend a hand of affection and assistance to our widows”.
He further reiterated that if not God he wouldn’t have been able to have achieved what he has done so far; and urged everyone to turn from their negative acts and accept God into their lives and in whatever they do.
In appreciation of God’s grace and mercy upon his life, the Royal Father who also doubles as the Chairman, Delta North Traditional Rulers Forum; as part of activities to commemorate his 61st Coronation Anniversary Celebration gave out Palliatives in cash and food items to 230 beneficiaries which comprised some widows and some physically challenged persons in Ika land. Others who benefitted from the Philanthropic gesture of the Royal Father are Job Orphanage Home, Agbor, The Anglican Church and the Palace Church; both at Owa-Oyibu.
The Coronation Anniversary reception will remain memorable in the minds of all who attended the ceremony, with guests well entertained with mouth watering delicacies.
Highpoint of the event was the tributes and goodwill messages from some traditional rulers, who included; The Onogie of Igueben (From Edo State), The Obi of Ubulu-Unor and The Obi of Idumuje-Unor; whom in their separate remarks, described the Celebrant as a Colossus, a living Legend, a role model, a man of integrity, a true father of all and an Icon to reckon with.
While eulogizing his sterling qualities of proactive leadership, they noted that celebration is all about extending a hand of affection to the widows, the orphans and the down trodden in the society. They described Owa as a lucky Kingdom because of the uncommon virtues in their Royal Father whom they further described as a Man of many parts, a Man of detailed skills; which has enabled him achieved tremendous growth and development in the Kingdom. They also appreciated the Chiefs and the entire people of Owa Kingdom for their cooperation which has enabled the King to achieve the recorded successes in Owa Kingdom.
They wished the Celebrant many more years on the throne in order to sustain the positive growth of the Kingdom.
The event also featured the cutting of the Coronation Anniversary Cake, Presentation of cash Palliative envelopes and food items to the 230 widows, physically challenged persons, representatives of the lucky Churches and Orphanages.
The colourful ceremony also witnessed the taking of Photographs with the Celebrant by the Traditional Rulers, the Owa Palace Chiefs, Members of the Clergies, Family members, Friends and Associates that graced the occasion.
In a vote of thanks, Chief Agidi, on behalf of the Owa Royal Palace and Chiefs of the Kingdom, appreciated their invited guests for making out time from their tight schedule and coming to celebrate with them. He Prayed God to guide them and grant them journey mercies back to their destinations.
