Nta Community
The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Women Development and Special Duty, Chief Mrs. Mary Agbogwe and some women of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ika North East Local Government Area, have empowered twenty women of their party in Owa – nta Community, Ward – five with the sum of (20,000) Twenty thousand each, given a total of Four Hundred Thousand Naira (#400,000).
Speaking during the empowerment which took place at Owa – nta Aliosimi Community Town Hall, on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, the leader of the PDP women wing, Chief Mrs. Mary Agbogwe said the group started the empowerment scheme four years ago and that it is usually done on monthly basis by visiting the women in the various wards in Ika North East. She noted that herself and few women who are under the pay role of the Delta State Government as political appointees are the people using part of their monthly salaries to do the empowerment.
In addition, Mrs. Agbogwe emphasized that the gesture was to complement the unrelenting efforts of the State Government. She advised the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously.
On behalf of Owa – nta Community, the Councilor representing Owa nta Community, Ward five, Hon. Samson Akwe Ucheony appreciated the women for their gesture. He used the medium to thank the State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi A. Okowa for transforming Delta State with his smart agenda. He prayed God to continue to bless Chief Mrs. Agbogwe and all those involved in the empowerment scheme for God to replenish their pockets and grant them good health.
The woman leader of the ward, Mrs. Caroline Egwu also thanked the women wing for putting smiles on faces of her people. She charged all political appointees in Ika nation in particular and Delta State in general to emulate the gesture of Chief Mrs. Agbogwe and her group so that hardship will be reduced.
Other leaders of the ward who graced the occasion, include, Hon. Laurence Eziokwu, Mr. Ifechukwude Eluro, the ward Chairman, Mr Solomon Ukpali, his Ward Secretary and others.
