For the record, I am from Ozanogogo and a very proud member of PDP in Ward 3, in Ika South LGA and Mr. Jude Onya is the LGA Chairman of the Party’s Executive Committee.
As a vibrant member of the Exco, I am verily aware that we are here to raise the bar of politics and to change the narratives from what was obtainable heretofore.
In many ways, politics in PDP in Ika South LGA, going forward, has been Party- centered and will continue to be like that.
From the very day he and other members of the executive were elected into office, the LGA Chairman of the Party, Mr. Onya has not put any person in doubt as to the much focused direction of his administration.
I recall that even in his maiden speech immediately after the Executive Committee (Exco) was inaugurated into office, Mr Jude Onya drew the attention of the Party leaders and stakeholders present that it is not going to be business as usual.
Political parties in Nigeria have over time been bedeviled with internal squabbles and unrest among members. The reason for this situation is hinged on the fact that party leaders (not in PDP) have always expressed almost unilateral and unfettered interest in assembling à body of persons into a group/committee to administer the Party either directly or indirectly.
The concomitant effect of this situation is that the all-important underlying principle of the supremacy of the Party which inherently guides the operation of the Party as an institution is thrown to the wind.
This, often times breeds tension, factions, cracks, intra party litigations, interpersonal schisms and failure to win elections. It is obvious that this has not and will not be the case in PDP in Ika South.
The signs of very healthy partisan operations of this Party are already in the air in Ika South and it is good to note that the generality of the leaders, stakeholders and members are in total agreement with the Jude Onya-led exco. The institution-strengthening processes, committees and sundry operational structures already put in place by the party leadership is only a pointing confirmation that the much talked about need to raise the bar of politics in PDP in Ika South has not only actually come to limelight but is infact in operation.
Party members in all the 12 electoral Wards are therefore duty bound, in the spirit of partisan commitment, to key into the plans and policies of the the Party to ensure that the mainstream position hitherto held by the PDP in this local government area be retained, maintained and sustained.
For this, I very specially want to sincerely thank and appreciate His Excellency, Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, and the Governor of Delta State for providing the enabling environment for the expression of the supremacy of the Party in PDP Ika South.
I also thank all the leaders of PDP in Ika South LGA for their cooperation, support and understanding with the Party Chairman and the Exco in this new dispensation.
I want to say that in my capacity as Exco member and Youth Leader of the Party in Ika South LGA, the Youths are happy and collectively poised to raise the banner of the Party sky-high. We are knowingly bound together by the tenets of the Party Constitution and do unanimously express our unalloyed and total support and loyalty to the Party at the Wards and LGA and to the party leaders in all of its policies, principles and position.
Courageously, we look forward to the progress and development of our dear Ika South Local Government Area through our great Party as an unrelenting, untiring and encouraging vehicle.
To God alone be all the glory.
