As Muslims in Ika land joins their counterparts across the world to mark this year’s Sallah celebration, the leadership of the famous Musa Cattle Market in Agbor has called for sustained prayers for peace and development.
The market leaders who spoke through their Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Uba Hassan, urged the Muslim faithful to also use the festival to pray God to end the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic.
He observed that Covid-19 was real, adding that the virus also deprived Muslims from attending this year’s pilgrimage.
He said, “this is another moment of celebration and sober reflection for all Muslims as we mark the Sallah festival also known as Eid-el-Fitri.
“On this occasion, I urge all faithful to take on the spirituality of this festival to pray God to give us sustained peace and development in Agbor, Ika land and the entire Nigeria, and more importantly, for Him to end the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic.
“I equally urge all to observe the Eid prayers in small groups, wear facemask and maintain physical distancing for our safety.”
He concluded by congratulating his fellow Muslims on the occasion while wishing them a successful Sallah celebration.
On his part, the Secretary of the association, Comr. Sani Saidu Makarfi, reflected on the security challenges pervading the land. He enjoined his people to offer special prayers for Ika land, Delta State and the nation against the backdrop of the current security situations, asking that God in his infinite mercies grant those at the corridors of power more wisdom to lead even as he prayed Him to lift up the downtrodden.
Similarly, Comr. Makarfi frowned against the spat of kidnapping in Ika land which according to him were majorly perpetrated by the Fulani settlers in the bush.
He narrated that Agbor kingdom, been the most peaceful kingdom in Nigeria, cemented the bond of unity and brotherhood with the Hausa people living in Agbor for over a hundred years, but expressed displeasure on the ground that the evil act of the Fulani settlers could puncture their relationship with the Agbor people.
However, he called on the Fulani settlers to come out from the bush and integrate themselves with the people.
He used the medium to appreciate the Agbor monarch, HRM Dr. Benjamin Ikenchuku, Keagborekuzi I, the Dein of Agbor kingdom, Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, Mr. Chinedu Ebie (Delta SSG) and Hon. Festus Okoh (Ika South House of Assembly representative) for their love and care for the Hausa community in Agbor.
