By Prophet Joseph Igbodo
Calvary greetings to everyone in Jesus Christ Mighty Name, Amen.
I want to teach on the message titled, “The Mystery Behind The Birth Of Jesus Christ”.
I picked the message from the book of Matthew 2:1-23.
Through the message I want to let everyone know what is called Jesus, Bethlehem, Herod the King, the Wise Men, Star, the Dream and Egypt.
However, let us first see the book of Jeremiah 31:13-16, which says “Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together, for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow”.
And I will satiate the soul of the Priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the Lord”.
Thus saith the Lord, A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not”.
Thus saith the Lord, Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears : for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the Lord, and they shall come again from the land of the enemy”.
Let us also look at the book of Ezra 1:5, which says “Then rose up the Chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the Priests and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised to go up to build the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem”.
For more understanding let us go further to the book of Hosea 1:11, which says “Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land for great shall be the day of Jezreel”.
The book of St. John 1:12, says “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name”.
When you look at the book of Matthew 2:1-23, you will see that everything about God is a Mystery.
Matthew 2:1-23, says “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem”.
Verse 2, says “Saying, where is he that is born king of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him”.
Jesus Christ is the son of God and Jesus Christ is God. What is His mission of coming to earth? Jesus had a challenge, God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost had a challenge.
What is their challenge? Satan was their challenge. The earth which God made to be Peaceful, Good and Perfect. Satan after God cast him down from heaven came and began to spoil the things of God. No man can take that. That is the reason why God The Father sent His son Jesus Christ to come and stop Satan, to rebuke Satan, to destroy the work of Satan on earth. The Bible says that Jesus Christ came to destroy the works of Satan. There was a king called Herod, this Herod was a material of Satan. Jesus Christ was given birth during the reign of King Herod and the Bible says that “Wise men from the East went to Jerusalem to visit where He was born and He was born for a purpose. What was the purpose? He was born on earth as the King of the Jews and the Bible says that a Star directed the wise men. That Star means Omnipotent, Omniscience and Omnipresent. The Star means that He is Excellent, that Star represents that Jesus Christ is a God of Authority, that He can do and undo, and the Star came from the east. When the Star surfaced from the east, some wise men saw it. Who are these wise men? The wise men are the chosen ones of Jesus Christ, the ones that are His own, they saw Him, they noticed Him, they recognized Him, that is what the Bible is saying.
Verse 3, says “When Herod the King heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him”.
Verse 4, says “And when he had gathered all the Chief Priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born”.
Because King Herod was an assistant to the devil, he was angry that Jesus Christ had come to stop what he and the devil and his wicked angels were doing on earth. The Bible says that “he was worried and troubled”, Once you are a child of God your enemies must be troubled.
Verse 5, says “And they said unto him, in Bethlehem of Judaea : for thus it is written by the Prophet”.
Verse 6, says “And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the Princes of Juda : for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel”.
Verse 7, says “Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared”.
Verse 8, says “And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child, and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also”.
According to the above passages, King Herod, instructed the wise men to go and find out where the King of the Jews was. Another name which Jesus bears is “Star”. The Star in the passage represents Jesus Christ, because Jesus is the Founder of the earth and everything therein. Satan and Herod were strangers, they were perplexed and troubled. Herod, knew that the Star was around and that the Star will swallow him and kill him, hence he was not at peace.
That was why he requested the wise men to go and search for Jesus and later come back to give him the report of their findings, so that he will go and pay homage too to Jesus Christ, that is deceitfulness.
As a Christian you must be very careful of who is with you or wherever you go to. Herod was Satanic and a deceiver.
Verse 9, says “When they had heard the King, they departed, and lo, the Star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was”.
Jesus Christ is a Director, that is why I said that the birth of Jesus Christ is a mystery, a great and wonderful mystery.
When King Herod was interviewing these wise men Heaven was watching, the Star was watching, the Star was a link of communication between heaven and the earth. It was like Bethel where Jacob had a dream and saw a ladder that was connected to heaven. Similarly in this case God was listening to the conversation of King Herod and the wise men.
Verse 10, says “When they saw the Star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy”.
The Star was God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
Verse 11, says “And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his Mother, and fell down, and worshipped him : and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts, gold, and frankincense and myrrh”.
Verse 12, says “And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way”.
Anyone who gives his or her life to Jesus Christ and is genuinely Born Again, living a righteous life is a Star, and that Star is what God warned against by saying, “Touch not my anointed and do my Prophet no harm”.
The True Believers are the Star of Jesus Christ and nothing shall harm them”.
For the record, the wise men are not Three in number as erroneously believed, the Bible did not mention how many they were, but that they were wise men, Who brought three different items, that is not to say, that because they came with three gifts, means that they were Three wise men, No. This is the wrong notion that I want to correct.
Take for example, when a company of people were going to the house of God and they met King Saul, on the way, something happened to King Saul, and the company of people were with Three loaves of bread, that doesn’t mean that the company of people were Three in number, No.
God appeared to the wise men in the dream that they should not go back to King Herod to deliver the message about the location of the child, because Herod was a destroyer and the first son of Satan on earth. As Ministers of God we must be very careful, it is not everybody that you relate with, likewise it is not everywhere that you must go to or enter, because there are people who want to find out what is in your mouth whereas they are not Christians.
Verse 13, says “And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word, for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him”.
Verse 14, says “When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt”.
Verse 15, says “And was there until the death of Herod : that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the Prophet, saying out of Egypt have I called my son”.
Egypt is a land of training, though a desert, Egypt is the place where God proved Himself. God instructed Joseph and Mary to take the young child to Egypt, and they obeyed.
All Pastors belong to God, hence the Lord can send you to anywhere in the world to groom you, either to the desert, in the rock or anywhere, that is why it is always good for Christians to obey God. Wherever God send you to for His work, He has a purpose for that.
Let me tell you the mystery surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ. If one may ask, How was Joseph and Mary able to get an apartment in Egypt? knowing that they are not from Egypt. How were they being fed or got what they used to feed Jesus Christ? That is the Mystery, that is the Power of God. The whole scenario about the birth of Jesus Christ is a mystery to mankind, it is a wonderful miracle filled with great signs and wonders. The Bible did not say that they suffered any difficulty nor sickness, No. God did it and proved Himself, that He can put you in any place and make you comfortable.
Verse 16, says “Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceedingly wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the Children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men”.
The above passage made us to understand that all the new born babies from a day old to two years old, were killed by King Herod, thinking that by so doing Jesus Christ will be among those killed, so that he will never grow up to become the King of the Jews.
Verse 17, says “Then was fulfilled by that which was spoken by Jeremy the Prophet, saying”.
Verse 18, says “In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not”.
Verse 19, says “But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt”.
Verse 20, says “Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go unto the land of Israel : for they are dead which sought the young child’s life”.
I Pray that every man and every woman that sought your death, will die before you and God will put you where you belong to, in Jesus Christ Mighty Name, Amen.
God redeemed Jesus Christ back to Israel because His purpose of coming was to start His journey from Israel and God defeated Satan and Herod.
Verse 21, says “And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel”.
Verse 22, says “But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither : notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee”.
Verse 23, says “And he came and dwell in a city Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene”.
All that God did to humiliate Satan and to destroy his work was fulfilled in the life of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ accomplished the work and destroyed the work of Satan and gave us victory. However, for more knowledge on the message you can read the book of First John 3:1-10.
Conclusively, I want everyone to understand that Jesus Christ coming to earth, brought success and good life to humanity. What God proposed in creating Adam and Eve at the beginning was fulfilled in the life of Jesus Christ, whom God used in bringing back all his goodness and blessings to mankind. Thank You.
