Now that Umunede has benefited from DSIEC’S
Electoral ward creation; let’s make it count

It has been several years now since our beloved community, Umunede, commenced the process for the hatching of so many sociopolitical opportunities that befits her status in the committee of viable communities of the state.
Against all odds, we as a people have come a long way in this journey of destiny, by playing different political discordant tunes on the stage via internal distractions and external antagonisms, but the hard fighting spirit which we collectively possess, has kept us on the track.
Looking back, it is not an understatement for one to say that, though we lost sometimes, we also won many times as one united and undeterred people. We have severally disagreed to agree and have also proven to the outside world, that our voice as a community can intimidate and overshadow whoever and whatever that wants to speak against our common welfare, especially in the recent general elections.
On Tuesday, the 1st of December, 2020, the Chairman of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC), Chief Mike Ogbodu in a meeting with Political Parties and other stakeholders, announced the date for the Delta State Local Governments Election, which is slated for the 6th of March, 2021, as well as the creation of additional 34 wards across the state. Umunede, which has hitherto been conservatively putting up with just one ward, like an Elephant taking up a shelter in a Rat hole, became one of the beneficiaries of the new political restructuring in the state, bringing it to a total of two wards in the community.
Although the feat was long overdue and frankly incommensurable with the sociopolitical size and status of one of the most populous and commercialized communities in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, it is a welcome development and a sign of better days ahead. Indeed, if we continue with the pace of the struggle and politically harness the leverages that are at the disposal of the community, the achievements that will be recorded in our land will be unprecedented within a very short time.
Without prejudice, what is definitely attracting these feathers to our big cap is not unconnected to the composition of our radical political vanguard as that has obviously created several political agitations and pressures within and outside the state.
This is indeed a testimony to the fact that political oppositions and competitions are healthy and commendable in terms of attracting political dividends, since the various political gladiators will all put in their bests, to please the people and win their hearts. Variety, they say, is the spice of life. Thus, with our diverse political experiences and ideologies, we are building a greater and stronger political tower in our land.
As a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), I make bold to say that we will continuously prioritise the welfare of the people and advocate for a better life for everyone.
Finally, I want to use this medium to congratulate every indigene of Umunede kingdom, for the political stride so far and to also sincerely appreciate all our staunch and resilient supporters for their individual and collective efforts that gave us this deserved glory. Your cry for justice is gradually yielding results and I urge everyone to remain focused until we birth the Umunede of our dreams. We must endeavour to keep the flag flying, regardless of our political differences.
With more efforts and enthusiasm, Umunede shall get to the Promise Land.
As a matter of fact, there can be no better time than now, to saddle the horse and rider gloriously, by taking advantage of this political privilege and achieve more uncommon sociopolitical breakthrough for our dear land.
Once again congratulations my people!
