The Director-General of the Delta State Orientation Bureau, Eugene Azuka Uzum Esq, has enjoined Deltans and non indigenes who are resident in the state to brace up to the challenges posed by flood.
Uzum,stated this during the Orientation weekly Radio programme tagged “Wetin Government Dey Do” with 97.9FM, Voice of Delta Radio, Asaba.
The DG who called on all stakeholders to be at alert against flood menace, harped on the need for everyone’s hand to be on deck in taking proactive steps.
In his words, ” following the prediction by NIMET, that Delta will be one of the states that would be experiencing flooding due to the heavy rainfall in this year,2020, there’s the urgent need for everyone to maintain proper cleanliness, and adhere to safety measures aimed at avoiding the devastating effects of flood. This involves clearing of drainages, removing of illegal structures/blockages, moving away from flood prone areas to safer places amongst other measures.
He added that the Delta State Orientation Bureau will continue to do her best in giving out the right advocacy towards ensuring a safer Delta for everyone.He appealed to those turning drainages to dustbins to desist from it .
