A sociopolitical group under the auspices of Oghanihun Ndi-Ika Progressive Forum (OPF), has charged Ika people to speak with one voice for the growth of the ethnic group.
The founder of the forum, Mr. Felix Oyanri, gave the charge while in parley with newsmen in Agbor during the week, pointing out that Ika people need to be more united so as to enable them achieve more in this political dispensation.
Mr. Oyanri who expressed mix feelings on the state of Ika communities, observed that the land ought to have grown beyond its present status, but wouldn’t be because of lack of sincerity of purpose.
He reiterated that OPF which was inaugurated some years ago by an Amazon and a gift to Ika land, Chief Mrs. Hetty Ajuebon Egbarin (JP++), frowns against tribalism, discrepancy, social vices and hate, to promote unity, peace and prosperity of Ika nation. Hence, well meaning indigenes should take heed while they join efforts in taking Ika land to an enviable height.
He said, “no development can thrive in a society where it’s people do not harmonize. Therefore, it is paramount for the Ika people to speak with one voice so as to enable them achieve more both politically and otherwise.”
Speaking further, Mr. Oyanri thanked the traditional rulers in Ika land and some notable Ika sons such as; Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, Mr. Jim Ovia, Mr. Chinedu Ebie, Mr. Ebenizer Onyeagwu, Hon. Festus Chukwuyem Okoh (Chuky Dandy), Dr. Donald Peterson, Hon. Charles Aniagwu, Mr. Hilary Ibegbulem, Ebeano Supermarket and a host of others for their immense contributions to the development and empowerment of Ika land.
He equally encouraged other well to do Ika indigenes, both at home and abroad, who are yet to make impact in their land, to emulate the above listed persons, pointing out that it does not requires much to do something.
Mr. Oyanri also charged those nursing political ambitions, to strive to make impact as it is their stewardship that will speak for them.
He concluded by wishing all Ika people and Nigerians at large happy Independence day celebration.
