Concerned Youths in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, who are passionate about their political emancipation, have threatened to mobilize massively against the Peoples Democratic Party in subsequent elections should aged men and women in the system fail to make way for the young ones to make impact.
It could be recalled that the group of youths have been in the news in recent times, calling for their space in the political structure among other issue geared towards strengthening PDP in the local government.
The group who would not rest untill their plights are given a favourable consideration, over the weekend insisted that donkey years politicians must leave the system, frowning that it will be unfair for the youths to be continually shortchanged.
One of its leaders, Mr. Isaac Obuseh, pointed out that if the youths who are been ascribed as future leaders are not been given the privilege to contribute their fresh ideas to the party system, things will remain imbalance. Hence, party stakeholders should cooperation with the youths and given them their place.
Going forward he said, “we read in last edition of Ika Mirror Newspaper where one of our elders applauded our executive Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, for the prompt town hall meeting with EndSARS protesters. To us, we thank him for commending the Governor but we expect more , particularly in the area of appointments of youths into government. These are things we the youths are also not too happy about, as praising the Governor too much would have him relax himself.
Our Governor should be told the truth at all times to enable him seat tight. We love him as well as others do, but let’s not overwhelm him with praises where he is expected to do more being a progressive leader.
In another case, the leaders made an old man a Youth leader which is also considered as imbalanced.
These amongst others, were the reasons why we the concerned youths are calling on old father’s and mothers in the political system of Ika land to retire home and relax while those after them should move forward to create space for the youths.
We have watched patiently, learnt and now ready to make impact in building our society both politically and other wise.
We wish not to stage protest in seeking for our right but chose to go about it legitimately in order not hit up the system, therefore worthy stakeholders in Ika South PDP should help amplify our voice for us to hold our peace,” he added.
